His backers sent him as the 2-5 favourite in the $12,000 GLADA Trot on Friday (June 10) at Scioto Downs, and Bold Strategy didn't let them down when Eddie Miller guided the veteran five-year-old trotter to an easy three-length victory over seven others in a time of 1:55.3.
In a race that featured four men and four women, Miller put the pedal to the metal when the starter said "go" and they showed the way by the quarter in :27.4. Forever Jesse, who left from the eight-hole, was parked by the first stanza before he made the front. Once there, he was content to show the way by the half in :56.2.
When Forever Jesse headed for three-quarters, he opened a four-length lead as he zipped by that marker in 1:25 with Bold Strategy in hot pursuit. Still with a 2-1/4-length lead at the top of the lane, Forever Jesse and Floyd Rhodes braced for Eddie Miller and Bold Strategy, but they only got a glimpse of him as he trotted by and went on to a three-length victory. Forever Jesse finished second and Steve Oldford and A Royal Line garneree the show dough.
The winner is owned by Rebecca Sugg, Watson Harness Racing and Mary Stucky and trained by his driver. Bold Strategy paid $2.80 for the win.
