Sheer Talent ($13.20) won the $4,800 distaff pacing feature on Wednesday's (June 10) opening night card at Vernon Downs.
Under The Bus (Jimmy Whittemore) jumped to the front and put up fractions of :26.2, :56.3 and 1:26.2 while Sheer Talent sat in the pocket. In the stretch, Fern Paquet Jr. eased her out of the pocket, and they blew right by to win in 1:53.1. Under The Bus had to settle for second, and Ladyboss (Wally Hennessey) finished third.
Sheer Talent, a six-year-old Badlands Hanover mare owned by Bill Reepmeyer and trained by Bruce Lauer, now owns 13 career victories.
Howard Parker drove three winners on the night; Jimmy Whittemore, Fern Paquet Jr and Joe Nassimos all had driving doubles.
Vernon Downs enjoyed an opening night handle of $353,784.
