Mohawk Warrior added Georgian Downs to the list of tracks he has conquered with a winning effort in the featured $11,500 Preferred 2 Pace on Sunday night (June 10).
Picking up his first Georgian victory, 19-time career winner Mohawk Warrior has now visited the winner's circle at nine different tracks and has accumulated $336,191 in purses.
In his latest conquest, Mohawk Warrior tracked the cover of In Spades (J Harris) while Toot Toot N (Ed Hensley) led the field through fractions of :26.3, :55.1 and 1:22.4. Driver Aaron Byron then tipped him three-wide turning for home with the trailing favourite Champagne Phil (Bob McClure) launching even wider from behind. In the race to the wire, Mohawk Warrior charged ahead of his rivals down the stretch to prevail by one and a quarter lengths in 1:51.3.
Sent postward as the 5-1 third choice, Mohawk Warrior paid $13.10 to win. American Hustle showed late hustle to make it onto the scene and claim second-place honours ahead of Champagne Phil. In Spades and Toot Toot N rounded out the top five finish order.

WEG Circuit regular Speedling ($9.30) made his Georgian debut a winning one, nosing out favourite McKinney in a 1:53.1 mile in the $8,500 Preferred 3 for trainer/driver Jason Ryan and owner Stuart Bolender.
