A talented group of six faced the starting gate in Monday’s $34,000 Preferred Trot at Mohawk Racetrack, and for the second week in a row it was Daylon Magician who earned weekly bragging rights in the featured tilt.
Jack Moiseyev hustled Daylon Magician to the lead from Post 5, and together they were unchallenged through tepid panels of :28.1, :57 and 1:25.1. Moiseyev lit the afterburners on the homebred turning for home and a :27.3 closing quarter was enough to seal the deal by a length over Charmed Life in 1:52.4. Even-money favourite Intimidate rallied to finish third in his 2015 debut.
The seven-year-old son of Kadabra-Daylon Marvel, who won for the 30th time in his career, improved this year’s record to 5-0-1 from six opportunities. The career winner of $1,864,797 races for Daylon Farms Ltd of Komoka, Ontario.
