Lanson circled the field of Invitational trotters during the final quarter of a mile to nab the victory in the $35,000 feature Friday night at Meadowlands Racetrack

.

Making his four-year-old debut as the 1-2 favourite in the field scratched down to five, millionaire trotter Dejarmbro and trainer-driver Trond Smedshammer established the lead during the :29-second opening quarter and cruised past middle panels of :56.3 and 1:23.4. Dejarmbro carried his two length lead into the stretch, however, the tempo-setter began to tire and the pocket-sitting Beatgoeson Hanover, driven by David Miller, sprung into action while Lanson and Mike Lachance came charging home from the backfield. With :28.3 final quarter speed, Lanson prevailed by half a length over Beatgoeson Hanover in 1:54 flat. Dejarmbro finished a length and a quarter behind in third.

Lanson paid $10.80 to win as the 4-1 third choice. The class-rising trotter notched his second win in four seasonal starts and 24th lifetime while bumping his bankroll to $787,931. Don Swick trains the eight-year-old Self Possessed gelding for the Ohio-based Royal Wire Products Inc.
