Michael Casalino and Dylan Davis’ Maravich ($2.80, Jon Roberts) set a new four-year-old track record for trotting geldings Wednesday at Harrington Raceway

with a 1:56.2 triumph.

The four-year-old Lockkeeper gelding settled off the pace early as Safari Heat set a hot pace. Maravich hit his best gear approaching three-quarters and surged by the leader and opened up three lengths at the wire over Safari Heat. Trained by Dylan Davis, it was his sixth career win. The mark was formerly shared by Winbak Red and Valley Sport.

In the featured $18,600 Open Trot, Amy and Steward Oldford’s Nordic Venture ($8.80, Vince Copeland) earned his third win in five starts this year in a lifetime best of 1:56.3. The six-year-old Keystone Nordic gelding is also trained by Copeland. Tough Challenger finished second while Allmar Surprise rounded out the trifecta.
