Lady London ($3.90) may not have been as fast as last week, but she was still pretty good on Wednesday night (May 8) after romping once again in Buffalo Raceway's $10,500 Class A Open Handicap Pace for fillies and mares.
Setting two new track records — the divisional mark for older mares as well as the overall distaff pacing record — with a 1:53.2 clocking last week, Lady London was dominant again after coasting to a 4-1/2 length nod over Little Joke in 1:54.2 over a fast track.
At the start, Little Joke parked Lady London as the tandem reached the quarter pole in a rapid :27.4. But once reaching the lead, driver Billy Davis Jr. and Lady London were in command the rest of the way.
Enjoying a three-length advantage turning for home, Lady London dropped a :28.3 final panel on the field to evaporate all of their hopes. Little Joke (Shawn McDonough) took the place position, with Rock My World (Jim Morrill Jr.) finishing in third.
Owned by VHF Racing LCC and trained by Sabrina Clevenger, it was the third victory in nine starts this season for the Ontario-sired Lady London (Big Jim-Maddam Luck). The six-year-old mare has now earned $21,588 this season and $75,876 lifetime.
Morrill and Davis had driving triples on the program; Trainer Gerry Sarama sent three to the winner's circle with Clevenger getting a double.
Racing will resume on Friday night (May 10) with a nine-race program set for 5 p.m.
