The Meadowlands Racetrack has announced a winner in its 'Win a Share of Captaintreacherous' promotion.
The Meadowlands is pleased to announce that Robert Droste of Clifton, New Jersey is the grand prize winner. He will receive one per cent of all purses earned by Captaintreacherous during his on-track racing career.
Captaintreacherous was one of harness racing’s brightest stars in 2012. He was named US Pacer of the Year over many older rivals, putting a bow on a season that saw him earn $918,253. In addition, he is the fastest two-year-old ever seen at the Meadowlands, with his 1:49.3 tour-de-force in the Woodrow Wilson.
'The Captain' also won the $1 Metro Pace in 1:49.2 at Mohawk Racetrack. Rightfully so, Captaintreacherous has been rated No. 1 on the Road to the Meadowlands Pace, listed on the spring-book line at 2-1.
Over 10,000 entries were submitted for the promotion. Fans had the chance to enter the contest every Saturday night through Saturday, May 4.
