Stettin Hanover shrugged off severe rain and wind to post a 1:55.1 victory over a sloppy track in Saturday night’s $9,000 featured sixth race at Vernon Downs

.

Jimmy Whittemore drove for trainer Lonny Hale as Stettin Hanover took over the lead from the pacesetting Hay Goodlooking after a half in :58.4 and then raced on to a 2-1/2 length tally in the week’s Class A Miracle Mile pace.

While recording Saturday’s fastest mile, the eight-year-old son of Artiscape-Sanrema Hanover chalked up his second score of the meet and fourth in eight season’s attempts for trainer Lonny Hale and the Hale Storm Stable. The crowd wagering choice paid $4.40 to win.

Josh Marks, Vernon’s dash wining leader after nine current programs, earned his third triple of the meet following first-place finishes behind the pacers Village Bistro, Yankee Commander and Its Ben Real. Whittemore and driver Chris Lems had two driving victories each.
