Thursday Evenings Commence At Red Shores

Thursday evening cards begin this week as the Spring Meet increases its intensity at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The 11-dash Thursday presentation is set to begin at 6 p.m. ADT, at the Capital oval.

The top event of the evening is the $3,900 fillies and mares conditioned pace in race 10.

Ms Meaghan Sparkel (Ryan Desroche) has rail control for owner/trainer Shayna Toll.

Plain Jane (Marc Campbell) will make her seasonal debut from post two for trainer Devon Wallace and owner Leigh and Faith Gavin. The seven-year-old Shadow Play mare last raced in the MacRae Memorial Open Mares Series final on Atlantic Breeders Crown day in Charlottetown.

Lady Devine (Myles Heffernan Sr.) will leave from post three trainer/owner Jennifer Doyle.

Acefortyfourdome (Jason Hughes) holds downs post four for trainer Ashley Gamester and owner Donald MacRae. The eight-year-old Up The Credit distaffer was a constant contender at the Fillies & Mares Preferred level in 2024.

Multiple stakes winner Chip Of Evil (Corey MacPherson) will make the first start of her four-year-old season for the Ed Doucette barn for owner Inarush Stable. The Arthur Blue Chip lass was a four-time winner from 10 stakes starts last season with $47,281 banked.

Elm Grove Mistress (David Dowling) completes the field from post six for owner/trainer Doyle as the 10-year-old Articulator mare looks to build on her 53 lifetime victories, including a running streak of nine straight wins.

The "Post Time Picks" selects Acefourtyfourdome on top: “Acefortyfour Dome has been excellent her whole career and did have six wins in 2024. We’re thinking Hughes will be aggressive off the switch and she does her best work on the front so you may want to hop on board with the Blue Knight.”

The featured trot in race seven has Buckhead Ridge (Campbell) making his East Coast debut from post two in the $3,850 class for new trainer Landon Campbell and owner Brady Doyle. The five-year-old Nuncio gelding was racing at Woodbine Mohawk Park in Ontario for trainer Greg McNair.
