The sophomore Sportswriter filly Sporty Tori, who made her career debut in early March, collected her sixth consecutive victory when making her seventh start on Tuesday, May 7 at The Raceway at Western Fair District.
Sent the 2-1 second choice, Sporty Tori got away fifth from the second-tier starting spot as odds-on favourite Keep Focused cleared command heading to a :30.1 opening quarter with Mostly Dali sitting second. Trainer-driver Gorden McKnight pulled Sporty Tori off the pylons moving to a 1:01.3 half and swept to the top before a 1:30.3 third quarter. Sporty Tori then spun for home under pursuit from Keep Focused heading to the wire, holding off the late challenger by three-quarter lengths in 1:59.1 while Mostly Dali took third.
Owned by M&s Racing Stable Inc., Sporty Tori has compiled $24,745 from seven starts. She paid $6.40 to win.
