For the second day in a row trainer/driver Kelly Hoerdt came away victorious in the featured event at Century Downs.

He took down Saturday’s top class for distaffers with Thats Extra, and this afternoon he joined forces with Get Thereovernight and took home top prize in the $10,000 Open Pace.

Hoerdt got away fourth with the 4-5 favourite while Justabitcrazy rolled to the lead and hammered out first-half fractions of :28.1 and :58. Read The Proposal came first-over on the leader and Hoerdt tracked that foe’s cover to the three-quarter pole in 1:26.1. Read The Proposal worked his way to the lead, but he couldn’t fend off Get Thereovernight in the late stages of the contest. Get Thereovernight used a :28.3 kicker to win by one-quarter of a length over Read The Proposal in 1:55. Taking home third prize in the six-horse affair was Premium Stock.

Hoerdt shares ownership on the six-year-old son of Clintons Cigar-Express Overnight with fellow Albertans Peter Giannakopoulos of Edmonton and Blair Corbeil of Beaumont. It was the second straight score for the gelding who now boasts a 4-1-2 record from seven starts this season. The 21-time winner has banked $217,669 to date.
