It has been reported that a former trainer has won a $2-million lottery windfall.
An article by WCHS ABC 8 explains that Angel Gonzales of Ranson, West Virginia won a Powerball prize from last Saturday’s lottery.
Gonzalez, a native of Puerto Rico that moved to West Virginia in 1979, is described as a retired horse trainer in the WCHS ABC 8 article. The piece doesn’t specify what breed of horses he conditioned.
The report states that Gonzalez is an avid lottery player and that he watched live as the winning numbers were announced on television.
“I was watching the television and reading the numbers off of my ticket as they were listed,” Gonzales was quoted as saying. “I kept saying 'come on' with each number and then I realized I had five. I immediately called my daughter in Puerto Rico and told her ‘you will not believe this.’”
Gonzalez said that he is “overwhelmed” by the experience and that he “will use this money to help take care of my children, my grandchildren and my great grandchildren.”
