Rockin Finish Upsets In Mohawk Return

Returning to the track where he started his career, $500,000-earner Rockin Finish prevailed in an close finish to produce the biggest upset of the evening on Friday (May 5) at Mohawk Racetrack.

Sent postward at odds of 13-1 in Friday's $11,000 fourth race -- his first Canadian pari-mutuel start since 2012 -- Rockin Finish went from 10th to first, prevailing by a head over Who Doesnt and Canadian Edition in 1:55.2 over the sloppy track. Trevor Henry drove the winner for Montreal-based owner Gerrie Tucker and current trainer Barry Bird.

Last year while racing in Ohio, Rockin Finish won eight of his 28 starts competing mostly in the top Open level classes while banking almost $100,000. The eight-year-old gelding took his lifetime mark of 1:50.1 at Dayton in September.

In his return to Mohawk, Rockin Finish notched his 37th career win and bumped his bankroll to $528,898. The Lothlorien-bred son of Rocknroll Hanover and Please Me Please is the richest of his fellow six-figure-earning full siblings Rock Me Please ($477,152), Rockin Wizard ($387,374) and Roll On ($305,576).
