Harry Von Knoblauch’s Scootin For Joy notched a repeat victory in Tuesday’s $17,000 Mares Open at Harrington Raceway in 1:53.
Trained by Peter Tritton and driven by Ross Wolfenden, the four-year-old Western Paradise mare sat behind Jeremes Sweetheart who set fractions of :27.1, :56.1 and 1:25. Scootin For Joy, who was sent off as the 4-5 favourite, sat loaded with pace and waited her turn down the passing lane for a one-length win. Jeremes Sweetheart held second, while Paradise Lost closed ground late for third.
Scootin For Joy paid $3.60.
Driver Jim Morand continued his pursuit of 9,000 wins with four wins on the program. Morand has 8,984 career victories. All four of his driving wins were aboard trainer Les Givens’ horses. Allan Davis had three victories. Montrell Teague, Ross Wolfenden and Bret Brittingham each had a double.
