According to an Associated Press report, house lawmakers dealt a significant blow to governor Jack Markell on Tuesday, failing to pass a bill opposed by the gambling industry that would reauthorize a sports betting lottery in
Delaware.
The article states that the legislation, a key revenue component of Markell's budget plan for the upcoming fiscal year, received a favourable vote of 23-15, but fell two votes short of the required three-fifths majority.
''This isn't over,'' vowed Markell, who said his administration will continue working to pass a sports betting bill.
