On Demand returned home a repeat winner in the sixth race conditioned event on Tuesday at Western Fair
Raceway. The Terry Oenema-trained gelding coasted home to score his fifth straight by four lengths.
With Doug McNair at the lines, the five-year-old son of Mr Lavec took up the third position after leaving from Post 7 while Trottingnstriking (Alfred Carroll) led the way through early panels of :30.4 and 1:02.2. From there, McNair gave the 3-5 favourite the go-ahead and he advanced first-up en route to the third quarter station in 1:32. On Demand took the lead at three-quarters and then cruised home in :29.4 to win in a life’s best 2:01.4.
Trottingnstriking stayed for second and Napanee Seelster (Wayne Henry) was third.
On Demand is owned by Terry’s 13-year-old sister Rachel Oenema of Burgessville, Ont. The bay notched his fifth win of the season and sixth lifetime score. The winner’s share of the $8,800 purse pushed his earnings to $26,536.
