Coalition Hanover bided his time and won the featured conditioned pace on Saturday evening (May 4) as part of the opening card at Hiawatha Horse Park.
Robert Doyle and the Pam Forgie student got away fourth off the car in the featured pace worth $5,000, maintaining that position through panels in :27.4, :58.4 and 1:26.3. The six-year-old gelding made his move just before the three-quarters, pulling to the outside. He charged home swiftly with a :27.4 last quarter to win by a length in 1:55.2. Pacesetting Legal Bettor (Garrett Rooney) finished second and Dragon Teen (Anthony Hamlin) took third.
Coalition Hanover (Somebeachsomewhere-Crooked Halo) won his 18th race from 101 career starts. He moved his career bankroll to $289,999 for owners Triple S Equine and Brian Hammell. He paid $12.60 to win.
Live harness racing at Hiawatha Horse Park is scheduled to take place every Saturday from May through September with a first post time of 6:30 p.m.
