Idle Trainers Discuss Return

The same as horsepeople across the continent, trainers in Pennsylvania are eager to get their stock back to the racetrack for pari-mutuel contests.

A recent article by the observer-reporter.com has explored how long it will take Standardbreds to return to the races once the word 'go' is given.

As any harness racing participant knows, the timetable for a Standardbred's return all depends what shape the horse has been kept in during the downtime.

As the observer-reporter.com learned, it won't take Meadows-based trainer Gary Johnson long whatsoever. “My horses are ready to drop in the box tomorrow,” he said.

Fellow Meadows trainer Dirk Simpson has also conveyed that his stock would be ready to be dropped in the box, but that they may need a couple of days.

“If you give us 10 days, we would have time for a couple fast works,” Simpson has been quoted as saying. “I think my barn would be competitive off that.”
