Big League, with Walter Cheverie in the bike, used an early move to sweep the field and paced home in 1:57.1 to win Saturday's $2,300 Preferred Pace at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

Cheverie moved four-year-old Big League to the front of the pack after watching Carnivore (Gary Chappell) touch down on the lead only to yield to Outlawpositivcharg (Terry Gallant) through the opening panel of :28.3. Once on top, Cheverie rolled the Stevie Wotton trainee through splits of :58 and 1:27.2 to record his second win of the season for owner Jonah Moase of Cornwall, P.E.I.

Carnivore used a ground saving trip to take second while driver Kenny Arsenault rallied Camcun to complete the top three. Broadcaster Peter MacPhee selected the winning triactor in the pre-race tee-up. The 8-7-1 triactor paid $654.40.

Cheverie also drove Delta Dental to victory in the evening trot class in 2:01.1. The 10-year-old mare is trained by Ronnie Gass and owned by Shelly Gass of Cornwall. Zip The Lip was second with Caliban Hanover third.

Mark Bradley had a driving triple on the program scoring with Acton O So Royal in a sparkling 1:57.4 for owner Wayne Pike of Winsloe. Bradley came right back with Muzzys Mud Puddle (1:59.3), owned by Allison Montgomery of Port Borden, and completed his hat trick with Mares Open Pace winner Too Ideal (1:59.1) for Bill Andrew of Calgary, Alberta.
