Final Curtain cruised to a thoroughly impressive 1:50.2 score in Sunday evening’s feature race at Mohawk
Racetrack – the $35,000 Open for four-year-olds.
Jody Jamieson mapped out the winning trip for the photogenic son of Pro Bono Best-Lola, who now boasts a 2-1-1 record in his first seven starts of the season for trainer Tracy Brainard.
Final Curtain floated off the gate and tucked into the three-hole while Real Celebration rolled the field of seven to the quarter pole in :27.4. As soon as the field hit the backstretch, Jamieson launched his charge to the outside and quickly brushed to the top.
Once on the lead, Final Curtain threw down middle panels of :56 and 1:22.4 before scooting home in :27.3 for the 1:50.2 decision. It was more than three lengths back to Mcapulco, who rallied for the runner-up award. Real Celebration and Get Out Of Dodge finished in a dead-heat for third prize.
Bulletproof Enterprises of Boca Raton, FL owns Final Curtain, who went 11-for-31 last season. Among his accomplishments last year was a 1:48.2 victory in a conditioned event at The Meadowlands. The 13-time winner has banked $227,470 to date.
