Trainees from the Tess Waxman barn were nearly perfect on Saturday, May 31 at Kawartha Downs, with four horses entered and the worst performance a runner-up effort.
The night started decently for Waxman with pacing colt Archy second best to Magical Bet and driver Nick Boyd in the $4,500 opener for maidens. It only got better from there.
In the seventh, Waxman's pacing filly Bella (1:57.4; $3.80) notched her third win in as many appearances. Tarquinus Hanover (1:53.3; $6.00) converted for Waxman against a group of conditioned claimers and then she captured the finale with second choice Acefortyfour Bolt (1:57; $6.70). All three of the wins came courtesy driver (and husband) Isaac Waxman.
Now in her second full season as a trainer, Tess Waxman is posting solid numbers to rank percentage-wise as one of the top conditioners in the nation. With a summary of 37-28-16 from 151 starts, Waxman's UTRS of 0.380 puts her third in the country for trainers with at least 105 starts. Waxman's trainees have banked $229,821 this season.
