Alberta Sires Stakes graduate Caviar N Crackers pulled off a 15-1 upset in Woodbine Mohawk Park's Friday night feature, a $24,000 high-end fillies and mares conditioned pace.
Campaigned by the husband and wife, driving and training team of Ed and Ashleigh Hensley, the four-year-old Captive Audience-Crackers Hot Shot mare lowered her lifetime mark to 1:50.1 in Friday's opener.
The race fractions went in :26, :53.4 and 1:22 with Crackers N Caviar eighth and poised for a big finish from fourth-over off the contested pace. Despite a misstep in the stretch, she swept by her rivals to win by 1-1/4 lengths in a :27 final quarter, returning $32.80 for the upset. Chiefs Dream Girl took second for Todd Ratchford over 6-5 favourite Style For A Mile and Doug McNair.
Caviar N Crackers is two-for-six racing in Ontario this year. The multiple Alberta stakes winner now sports a career record reading 7-8-4 from 34 starts, with earnings totalling $143,681.
