Qualifying action continued at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Monday, June 1, as the Campbellville oval hosted a 10-race docket full of Standardbreds prepping for their return to pari-mutuel racing.

The session, which was contested over a 'fast' track, saw five races contested prior to a break in the action. The remaining five races were then conducted afterward.

Three-year-old trotting fillies were in the limelight during the session, as they comprised the first eight of the morning's races.

Race 8 produced the fastest three-year-old trotting filly win time of the session, as Ontario Sires Stakes Super Final winner Jula Shes Magic was up for a bit of a skirmish in what was her 2020 charted debut.

Jula Shes Magic, who is a daughter of Kadabra, fired well from the outer end of the starting gate. Driver Jody Jamieson guided the winner of $208,612 down to the lead and trotted past the quarter pole in 28 seconds. Jamieson was able to get a breather into his charge in the second quarter, as he and Jula Shes Magic made their way down to the half-mile indicator in :58.2.

Ride To Justice came first up early in the third quarter and began to advance on Jula Shes Magic, who would go on to lead the field past the three-quarters pole in 1:27.4. The fight was on in the stretch, as Jula Shes Magic wanted the wire. In late stretch, Jula Shes Magic then had to deal with Solsbury Hill, who had vacated the pocket and was fresh with trot.

The judges had to refer to the photo finish image, as Jula Shes Magic and Solsbury Hill were almost inseparable at the wire. After inspection, it was revealed that Jula Shes Magic had held on and notched a slim victory in 1:56.3.

Jamieson lead all drivers during the session with four victories, while performers from Kerwood's operation notched four wins.

Prior to the mid-card break, the fastest of the morning's sophomore trotting lasses had been the Jared Bothwell-trained and Jody Jamieson-driven GP Dreamin, who had stalked her foes before kicking home.

GP Dreamin, a daughter of Ontario sire Cornaro Dasolo, started from Post 1 and sat fourth through the fractions (:29.2, :58.4, 1:28.1). The bay was almost eight lengths behind the leader at the three quarters, but was ready to show her rivals a thing or two.

Jamieson called on GP Dreamin in the lane, and the Carolyn Polillo-owned filly was ready to unleash a quick turn of foot. GP Dreamin fired home with a :27.4 final quarter, gobbled up racetrack, and went on top post a one-length victory in 1:57.3.

GP Dreamin made a pair of starts as a two-year-old, one of which resulted in a victory during an Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots tilt at Mohawk.
