Officials with Sudbury Downs have sent out a press release in advance of its meet-opening card of live harness racing, which will head postward this Sunday (June 2) at 1:30 p.m.
Live racing will kick off this weekend. Cards of live racing will take place at Sudbury Downs every Sunday afternoon until October 13.
In addition to mentioning the track's up-close, outdoor viewing area and air-conditioned grandstand, the release also states that there is free parking, a trackside BBQ (weather permitting) and stresses a family-friendly environment.
Sunday afternoon racing will be a perfect time and place for family outings," Sudbury Downs Racing Manager Ken Le Drew was quoted as saying in the release. "The last 15 months have been difficult for the horse-racing industry, but we are happy to be able to launch our 2013 live race season and continue the 39 year tradition of harness racing in northern Ontario.”
The release also states that the track has a full slate of added-money events pending approval.
