Hanover Meet Kicks Off Saturday

Hanover Raceway’s 2016 meet of live harness racing will kick off this Saturday (June 4).

This year the track will be celebrating its 52nd year of pari-mutuel racing and its 152nd year as a non-profit agricultural society.

Most of the track’s 16 live dates will have special features attached to them. Dream of Glory Day will feature live fireworks after the races on the Civic Holiday Weekend, which is Saturday, July 30 this year.

Opening day, Saturday, June 4
The first 250 fans to purchase a program on site will get a Hanover Raceway Ballcap (one per person). Fans will also enjoy two special races each night. Race 7 will be sponsored by OLG and one lucky fan will win $100 in prizes, including food, cash and ‘betting bucks.’ Race 8 each night will be sponsored by and one lucky fan will win a $25 gift certificate from HPIbet.

Saturday, June 11 – Pepsi Night at the Races
Representatives from Pepsi will be on hand with up to $2,000 in prizing to give away to all members of the family, including a bicycle, BBQ and lawn furniture.

Saturday, June 18 – Molson Mens Day
Molson will help the track celebrate Father’s Day with over $1,000 in prizes for all dads in attendance. Prizes include Coors Light coolers, a fire pit, beach umbrellas and more.

Saturday, June 25 – Hockeyville Day
Kids 13 and under wearing a hockey jersey can enter to win 1 of 6 bikes courtesy of the Hanover Rotary Club and Hanover Canadian Tire.

Dream of Glory Day – Saturday, July 30
There will be a special first-race post time of 6:15 p.m. A BBQ will start at 5 p.m. and the Crippled Ducks will be playing in between the races. There will also be a huge fireworks display after the races, and the three-year-old colts will compete in the Ontario Sires Stakes as part of the program.

Other Events
The Balanced Image Trot will be held on August 20 and 27. The Walker Memorial Trot will be raced on August 20. Bring a Friend Day is July 16. Ladies Night will be on July 9. A survivor handicapping contest sponsored by Country 93 Radio will begin on July 2 and the final will take place on Saturday, August 6. The 152nd Hanover Fair will take place from August 12 - 14.
