Chosen as the favoured Travis Cullen-trained mare by the bettors in this week's $10,500 Fillies & Mares Open Pace at Century Downs Racetrack and Casino, Sing Like An Angel delivered on her pari-mutuel promise as she prevailed off a pocket trip.
After tracking longshot G Ts Selene through fractions of :26.4, :57.1 and 1:25.2, 7-5 favourite Sing Like An Angel ($4.90) paced past the tiring leader and earned a season's best 1:54.2 victory. Rummys Command finished over two lengths behind in second while the winner's stablemate, 2-1 second choice Feelin Flush, came on for third after being shuffled back to last by the third quarter mark.
The win was the fourth this year for Sing Like An Angel, who has finished no worse than third in nine starts.
Cullen, Century Downs' leading trainer, shares ownership of the five-year-old Bettors Delight mare with his mother Jodie and Keith and Margaret Hannah of Waskada, Manitoba.
Sing Like An Angel completed a driving double on the nine-race card for Brandon Campbell and she was one of four winners on the card for the Cullen stable.
