Flamboro Downs had three-year-old trotting fillies in the spotlight on Sunday evening, with three divisions of the Bud Light Stakes on tap – as opposed to in the bottle

Tommi My Girl drew first blood by taking her $34,970 assignment in a career-best clocking of 1:58.3. After going winless in six starts as a rookie, the daughter of Ken Warkentin-Razzle Dazzle Tom has won two of her first three starts this season. Sunday’s score saw her knock off Glide By and Canada Cool.

Kelly Sheppard trains and drove the youngster to the victory for Sea Of Green Inc of Dundas, ON. She has banked more than $57,000 to date.

Tequila Slammer enjoyed a $232,000 rookie campaign, but going into her $35,595 assignment on Sunday evening she was 0-for-3 on the season. It only took a 1:57.3 performance for her to change her tune. The John Bax-trained daughter of Yankee Glide-Silly Senorita sliced out splits of :28.4, :58.3 and 1:28 for Steve Byron en route to the two-length score over Boots N Hearts. Ipromisenottotell was another length back in third.

Glengate Farms of Campbellville and Parkhill Stud Farm of Peterborough, ON share ownership on the talented miss, who was a multiple stakes winner in her freshman campaign. She notched wins in the Robert Stewart Stakes and the Bud Light Stakes before earning a 1:56.4 speed badge in a division of the Bluegrass Stakes at The Red Mile.

Highland Strikes came up a neck short in last Sunday’s $130,000 OSS Gold Series final at Mohawk Racetrack, but she got all the marbles in her $35,595 division of the Bud Light Stakes for trainer Ben Baillargeon and driver Mario Baillargeon. The daughter of Striking Sahbra-All Night Hall supplied fractions of :29, 1:00.1 and 1:29.1 before sprinting home in :28.1 en route to the 1:57.2 tally. Emmylou Who and No Magic To It rounded out the top three finishers.

The win improved the filly’s 2010 record to 2-4-0 in just eight attempts. After going winless in two starts as a juvenile and failing to bank a nickel, she has stashed away more than $86,000 this year for her owner, R Berthiaume Inc of Point-Aux-Trembles, QC.
