After three runner-up performances in Charlottetown Driving Park’s Open Trot, Katies Victory finally clicked for the win in Saturday’s $1,400 contest

Dusty Lane Shelby showed the way through intervals of :29.2, 1:00 and 1:30.3 while Ken Murphy sent Katies Victory first up from third. The daughter of S Js Photo-Questionable Katie wore down the pacesetter into the stretch and was home in 2:00.4 to record her second win in six tries this season. Clark Smith owns and trains the winner of seven races and $7,129 lifetime, who prevailed by 1-3/4 lengths over Malahide (Mike Stevenson) and Flashy Image (Gary Chappell).
Switching over to the pace, Outlawpositivcharg and trainer-driver Terry Gallant doubled in the $2,200 feature. The six-year-old son of Blissfull Hall-Electromagnetic advanced to the lead from third at the half and led the rest of the way to score in 1:56.2. Pans O Silver (Brodie MacPhee) rallied off cover to finish 1-1/4 length behind while favourite St Pete Star (Danny Romo) closed from the backfield to show. Fred Lamont of Calgary, B.C. owns the winner of four races in six seasonal starts. Outlawpositivcharg has now won 32 times and sports a bankroll of $118,586.
Trevor Hicken recorded a training triple on the 12-race card. Driven by Norris Rogers, Last Stargaze (2:03.2) won the second race for Hicken, Smart Barney (1:59.4) prevailed in the fifth race with Gallant driving and Riccaras Sun (2:00.1) scored in the 10th with Ken Arsenault.
