Harness racing returns to Sarnia, Ont. on Saturday night (May 6) with a 10-race card slated at the Hiawatha Horse Park.

A $5,000 pacing event tops the card and also caps the card, going as the 10th race. Stew McQueen pupil Hurrikanekingcarlo starts from post four as the 2-1 favourite in rein to Dan Clements, who finished second in the driver’s standings last season. Bill and Andy Moore have the second choice on the morning line with Shakin My Peaches from post six and Natasha Day drives the third choice, Cassidy Schneider trainee Maddys Credit, from the pylon post.

Back by popular demand, 2022 Hiawatha leading driver Garrett Rooney will have some tough choices to make as he's been listed on 22 horses at draw time. From 170 starts, Rooney won 42 races and led all drivers in purse earnings with $174,781.

McQueen, last year’s training runner-up to Lindsay Kerr, starts six horses on the 10-race card. McQueen finished six wins behind Kerr last year with 16 victories from 42 starts and second in purses with $43,444.

Hiawatha Horse Park will feature live harness racing every Saturday night through closing night on Sept. 23. First-race post time at Hiawatha is 6:30 p.m. (EDT).
