There was no stopping driver J.R. Plante on Sunday evening at Flamboro Downs, as the sulky sitter won half

of the races on the 10-race program.

Plante kicked off the card with four consecutive wins, and he tacked on another one in the sixth race to bring his nightly win total to five.

All Is Lost got the ball rolling for Plante in the opener thanks to his 1:56.3 score for trainer Duane Marfisi and owners Aaron Waxman and Alan Alber. It was a maiden-breaking victory for the son of Allamerican Ingot.

Plante took advantage of a pocket trip in the second race with Casimir Im O K, who popped out late and stepped to a 1:59.2 victory for trainer Bill Budd. Paradise Lane N’s 1:58.4 triumph in the third race gave Plante the natural hat trick, and Keystone Liberty’s 1:59.4 win in the fourth race gave Plante the Grand Slam. That mare was let go at 30-1 despite Plante’s hot streak.

The fifth win on the card came with Pacific Sharaz, who posted a nose decision in the sixth race for Plante. He watched the pacer dig in in deep stretch en route to the 1:58.3 decision.

The resident of Burlington, Ontario enjoyed a career season in 2008 based on 246 wins and purse earnings in excess of $1.5 million. He has already driven the winners of $631,000 in purses this season, while his win total has climbed to 112 thanks in part to Sunday’s five win performance.
