The Hambletonian Society announced on Thursday, May 29 that New Jersey Lottery will be an official sponsor of the 100th running of the Hambletonian Stakes.
The Hambletonian is one of America’s oldest and most prestigious sporting events. This year, the Hambletonian will be celebrating the 100th edition of the classic harness racing event.
The Hambletonian attracts tens of thousands of loyal attendees to Meadowlands Racetrack for the Championship Meet that ends with Hambletonian Day this year on Aug. 2. The 100th anniversary event will be filled with special events all week along with interactive and family-friendly activities on Hambletonian Day. In addition, the race will be televised on Fox Sports and CBS Sports Network.
Since its inception in 1970, New Jersey Lottery has contributed nearly $33.7 billion USD to the State, helping to support many worthwhile programs and services. Lottery profits currently help bolster the public employee pension system under a 30-year agreement signed into law in 2017.
“The Hambletonian Society is proud to partner with the New Jersey Lottery for this once in a lifetime event,” said John Campbell, president and CEO of the Hambletonian Society, which owns and administers the classic trotting race. “The 100th Hambletonian celebration at The Meadowlands is the greatest day in harness racing featuring a heralded piece of Americana, a showcase of the best horses in racing and a day filled with world-class entertainment. The New Jersey Lottery is a natural fit to be part of this historic event. We look forward to a continued relationship.”
The New Jersey Lottery joins presenting sponsor FanDuel, TD Bank, 3M and DRF as sponsors for the 2025 event.
