NB Newcomer To Take On Top Pacers

There is a new "queen" in town in New Brunswick's capital. She goes by the name Queens Or Better and since her arrival on the New Brunswick horse racing scene, she is unbeatable in her first two starts.

Recently acquired by the syndicate of Daniel, Steven and Amy Crouse along with David Silliphant, the mare has won her first two starts for her new owners and has looked royally great in both.

Her first start in Fredericton showed her toughness as the daughter of Dragon Again slayed the competition despite being on the outside the entire mile. Queens Or Better's lines at Northfield, a half-miler south of the border, showed she was that type of horse and she proved as tough her first start in Fredericton. Scott Hubbard catch-drove the five-year-old winner of six races this season to a 2:03 victory in a track rated off about two seconds.

In her most recent outing last Sunday at Exhibition Park Raceway, Gilles Barrieau was in the sulky as she took early command and was a handy 8-3/4 length winner in 2:01, again with the track being off a couple seconds.

She now will take on the day's best in Fredericton this coming Saturday in the 12th race. Queens Or Better has drawn post two in the $1,500 feature for trainer Brian Embleton, who is off to another quick start in 2013 since racing has returned to the province. She will face five other rivals in her upcoming test and has been listed as the early morning line favourite at 5-2 odds.

There are a total of 13 races on Saturday with first post on tap for 1 p.m.
