The scheduled New York State Racing and Wagering Board hearing for trainer Lou Pena has been delayed
.
The hearing was to take place Wednesday, May 30, but harnessracing.com has reported that the meeting will not go ahead as planned.
NYSRWB Spokesman Lee Park told harnessracing.com that the hearing has been "delayed at Pena's attorneys' request" and that "the attorneys will confer to find a mutually available date."
On May 24, the NYSRWB announced that it had suspended Pena effective immediately and indefinitely after it found via vet records that horses under his care were illegally medicated in nearly 700 races in New York State, and that horses from his stable had amassed more than 1,700 equine drug violations.
