Joxter rallied to capture the $7,700 Open Trot at Vernon Downs on Saturday (May 28).
Credit List grabbed the early lead but Discus Hanover took control just before hitting the first quarter first in :28. He slowed things down with a :30.2 second quarter and led to the half in :58.2. Joxter made his move from fourth going first-over around the final turn. Discus Hanover held on to a short lead and hit three-quarters first in 1:27.2.
As they made the turn for home Joxter wrestled the lead away. Discus Hanover fought back gamely but Joxter was not to be denied and won in 1:55.1. Discus Hanover had to settle for second. Credit List finished third.
Joxter is a four-year-old gelding by Chapter Seven. He is owned Ann-Mari Daley and trained by driver Dan Daley. He won for the first time this season. He now has 11 victories. He paid $15.20 to win.
Barton Dalious drove three winners on the card. Steeven Genois recorded a driving double as Fannie Saul-Beaulieu and Jeff Sorenson captured training doubles.
Live racing returns to Vernon Downs on Monday (May 30) for a Memorial Day matinee starting at 12:15 p.m. (EDT) featuring two divisions of the NYSS for three-year-old trotting fillies.
