Hot Deuce Overcomes Outside Post

The outside post position proved to be no problem for Hot Deuce ($6.70) on Sunday night (May 28) at Flamboro Downs as he fired to the front and never looked back in the featured $8,500 Preferred 3 Pace.

With Robert Shepherd catch-driving, Hot Deuce overcame his assigned post eight starting spot as he quickly crossed to command and mastered the Dundas oval. He carved out fractions of :28, :57.2 and 1:25.3 before drawing off by more than six lengths with a :27.3 final frame to stop the clock in 1:53.1.

Hamburg, New York trainer Sabrina Clevenger campaigns the five-year-old Armbro Deuce gelding, who has defeated the top pacers at Buffalo Raceway on four occasions over a seven-race stint there before shipping back to Flamboro.

Hot Deuce was claimed in late January at The Raceway at Western Fair District for $12,500 by Mike McAllister of Beaumont, Alta., and has earned almost $30,000 since going six-for-15 on the year.

The $7,500 Fillies & Mares Preferred 3 was won by Duncs Diamond ($10.10) and driver Scott Young in 1:56.1 for trainer Bernard Wills and owner Brian Lamarche of Markham, Ont.

Live harness racing will resume at Flamboro Downs on September 2.
