Every Day Dan dealt with sustained pressure on the lead and hung on by a nose to win the $31,250 Open Handicap Trot on Wednesday, May 27 at Harrington Raceway.
Every Day Dan, sent off at 4-1, set the early fractions of :28.1 and :57 while Arrowhead Hanover (Troy Beyer) was parked on the outside and harassed the leader. Speed Away (Corey Callahan) waited patiently in the pocket with no change to the lead through three-quarters in 1:26. In the stretch, Every Day Dan held off a fierce late charge from Speed Away to win by the smallest possible margin in 1:55.1. Arrowhead Hanover finished third.
Trained by Joe Columbo for George and Tina Dennis Racing, Every Day Dan took his fourth win of the year in 19 appearances. The six-year-old Dover Dan-Emerald Bling gelding is now 20-for-102 lifetime. He has won the Harrington Open twice this meet. The win price was $10.60.
Trainer Jamie Sullivan tripled on the 15-race card. The conditioner won with Kinnder Icecube ($4), who is now three-for-four since moving to her barn, I Get It ($4.20) and Inter Mischief ($5.80). Sullivan, who went two-for-two on Tuesday's card, is 34-for-138 on the season for win rate of 24.6 per cent.
Driver Jason Green had three wins on the program, winning twice for Sullivan. Montrell Teague, Art Stafford Jr. and Tony Morgan each had driving doubles.
