Indiana Sires Stakes Season Begins Monday

Harrah’s Hoosier Park Racing & Casino will host a special live harness racing card on Monday, May 29 in celebration of the Memorial Day holiday. An action packed 14-race card has been assembled and will feature the opening round of Indiana Sires Stakes action for the three-year-old competitors. First post is 6:15 p.m.  

In conjunction with the racing action taking place on the track, Harrah’s Hoosier Park will be filled with activities off the track as well. Racing fans are invited to enjoy special military discounts and cele­brations, contests, winner’s circle giveaways and food trucks.

As a special thank you to those men and women who have served or are currently serving, all military members will receive a 15 per cent discount at all Harrah’s Hoosier Park dining outlets on the property. Beginning at 5 p.m., guest are encouraged to visit a Trackside Promotional Kiosk and swipe in for their chance to win an Instant Win $100 MegaBet to be placed on any Hoosier Park race.

An evening of family fun activities will also be available including a photo opportunity with a live Standardbred in the front paddock from 6-8 p.m. A variety of bounce houses will be on hand along with a DJ and food trucks out on The Yard. 

The evening’s 14-race card will feature eight divisions of Indiana Sires Stakes action. Three of the four two-year-old champions from last season will be in action on Monday’s card including Buzzsaw Russ (two-year-old colt pace champion), Yo Beth D (two-year-old filly trot champion) and Fortunada (two-year-old filly pace champion). Harrah’s Hoosier Park will offer a free, live racing program for Monday’s card and every live racing night along with featuring several handicapping tools on its website.

Hoosier Park's 30th season of live harness racing will feature the richest open stakes schedule to date. Worth more than a combined $12 million, the 160-day season will be the most lucrative stakes program in the track’s history culminated by hosting the 40th edition of the Breeders Crown events in October. Hoosier's premier pacing event, the $300,000 Dan Patch Stakes, is slated for Friday, Aug. 11 and the coveted Breeders Crown events will take place on Friday, Oct. 27 and Saturday, Oct. 28.
