Sent postward as the longest shot on the board at 8-1, Saulsbrook Quick came on late to capture the featured $1,225 Winners Over Pace on Sunday afternoon

at Truro Raceway.

With Darren Crowe in the bike, the six-year-old Quick Comeback gelding sat fourth in the six-horse field until the stretch. Meanwhile, favourite Real Simple (Kenneth Parker Jr.) carved out fractions of :27.4, :58 and 1:27.3. San Marco Hanover (Ryan Ellis) then pulled the pocket and wore down the pacesetter, but Saulbrook Quick came flying home to score the 1:58.2 triumph by more than two lengths. San Marco Hanover stayed for second and Real Simple finished third.

Saulsbrook Quick returned $19 to his backers for a $2 win ticket. The career winner of 25 races is owned and trained by Truro's Ross Toole.

The biggest upset of the day came one race prior when Busters Brother advanced first over from the backfield and opened up five and a half lengths to pull off a 23-1 stunner. The Robert Laffin-driven and George Rennison-trained Western Success five-year-old paid $49.70 to win in 1:59.3 over his favoured stablemate Extreme Measure. The victory was his first win at the Truro track.
