Age Of Consent won in upset fashion in Sunday’s pacing feature at Saratoga Casino and Raceway and matched a track record in the process

.

Jim Devaux piloted the Kevin Hough trainee, who got away last in the $18,500 Open for fillies and mares. After blistering fractions of :26.4, :55.1 and 1:23.3 set the table for the closers, the backfield was in motion and Age Of Consent made her move.

Fanning to the far outside around the final turn, Age Of Consent sprinted home in the stretch and completed her swoop of the group, stopping the timer in 1:53.1. Leanback Coco (Brett Crawford) finished second in the feature while Slomotion (Billy Dobson) held on for third.

The win time tied the track record for older pacing mares, which was established by Sentbytheangels and Golden Ace in previous years.

The victory for the seven-year-old Real Desire mare came at odds of 54-1 and led a trifecta that was the largest of the season at the track, paying $17,235.

Live racing continues on Monday afternoon with a Memorial Day matinee set to begin at 12:45 p.m.
