Rock ‘n roll icon Chubby Checker is bringing his music to Hoosier Park Racing and Casino

. Checker will perform two shows Saturday, June 27 in the Terrace Showroom. Tickets are now on sale at Shelby’s Gifts, located on the Terrace level at Hoosier Park Racing and Casino or by calling (765) 642-7223.

Born Ernest Evans in South Carolina, Checker introduced the concept of “dancing apart to the beat” in 1959, which encouraged dancing without a partner that included rocking, rolling, shimmying and shaking. He’s best known for his hit “The Twist” that inspired a whole new avenue for music in the rock and roll era. “The Twist” went to number one twice, once in 1960 and again in 1962, the only song to ever do so on the top 40 charts. Other hits for Checker include “Loddy Lo,” “Let’s Twist Again,” and “Pony Time,” which was also a number one hit. Checker is the only artist to ever have five albums in the Top 12 at one time, and the only artist to ever have nine double-sided hits.

Seating for the first Chubby Checker show begins at 6 p.m. and will include dinner. Checker will take the stage at 7 p.m. Tickets for the twilight dinner performance are $50 plus tax.

Checker’s second performance will be held at 10 p.m. Tickets are $25 plus tax. A 20 percent discount will be honoured to all guests showing a Club Centaur Rewards card for the 10 p.m. show. Membership into Club Centaur is free and can be obtained by stopping by one of the Club Centaur Rewards Centers located at the main entrance to both the casino and the racing facility.

In addition to Checker, Hoosier Park Racing and Casino will host other upcoming performances including The Beach Boys Saturday, July 11 and Gallagher Saturday, Sept. 26. Tickets are currently on sale for The Beach Boys at Shelby’s Gifts or by calling (765) 642-7223.
