Trainer Ron Matheson sent out three winners on the Saturday, May 25 card of harness racing at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park, with his trainees finding the winner's circle on both ends of the program.
Gilles Barrieau engineered two of those victories for Matheson, as the duo teamed up to win the first dash with Ashes To Ashes (1:56.1) and the finale -- the $4,000 Preferred Pace, which was claimed by Twin B Tuffenuff in a 1:53 front-end score for trainer Matheson and owner Pat Morris. Roll Em (Marc Campbell) was just back in second ahead of All Bets On Tex (Adam Merner).
Matheson's third win of the card was the first win of the card for Redmond Doucet, whose driving triple catapulted the Nova Scotia-based horseman to the top of the standings in the 2024 Atlantic Regional Driving Championship. With the trio of tallies, the Charlottetown, P.E.I.-based Matheson sports 950 lifetime training victories with more than $1.7 million in career purse earnings.
Live racing continues Sunday, May 26 at 1 p.m. at Red Shores Summerside featuring the P.E.I. Colt Stakes for three-year-old pacers.
