New York Sires Stakes (NYSS) action kicked off at Saratoga Casino Hotel on Sunday, May 26 with Shake That House topping the three divisions as he remained undefeated from three starts this season with a 1:51.3 victory.
The son of American Ideal collected his sixth victory total from 11 starts as one of four winners on the afternoon for driver Tyler Buter and three for trainer Chris Oakes. The pair won another NYSS division with American Mercury, who turned away a late bid by Hickfromfrenchlick to win in 1:52. Buter's other victories came in Excelsior A competition, steering Chris Oakes-trainee Rickybobbynthehaus and Notwithoutafight to wins.
On a day in which Oakes and Buter scored two victories among the day’s three big Sire Stakes races, the other winner in a $58,100 event was Fromthestartagain (So Surreal-From The Start-Western Terror), who recorded his first Sires Stakes victory by setting a lifetime mark of 1:53 with Jason Bartlett driving for trainer John Grasso.
The next installment of the NYSS at Saratoga will take place in two weeks when three-year-old trotting fillies are featured on Sunday June 9.
Live racing resumes at the Spa on Wednesday afternoon, May 29 with a first post time set for 12:00 p.m.
