Rose Run Quest Quick At Charlottetown

Trainer-driver Marc Campbell circled pocket-sitter Rose Run Quest to the lead and opened a length-and-a-quarter margin in progress to a 1:55.1 victory in the $2,900 featured pace at Charlottetown Driving Park on Saturday, May 25.

The seven-year-old If I Can Dream gelding stalked pacesetter Adkins Hanover through splits of :28.1 and :56.3. Race-favourite Euchred pulled first over from fourth, forcing Campbell’s hand to tip Rose Run Quest from the cones and push the leader passing a 1:26.1 third quarter. Rose Run Quest cleared command turning for the wire and strolled home chased by Euchred in second and Mick Dundee in third.

Owned by Blair Hansen, Rose Run Quest won his 33rd race from 108 starts, earning $160,533. He paid $6.70 to win.

Innocent Kiss upset 1-9 favourite Sodwana Bay when winning the $2,800 Fillies and Mares Open Pace in 1:58.2. The four-year-old Westwardho Hanover mare sat pocket as Drivingthedragon N set the pace with fractions of :31, 1:01.4 and 1:30.2. Sodwana Bay advanced first over moving to the half and held a narrow lead turning into the stretch, but pocket-sitter Innocent Kiss surged to the front late to win by a length. Sodwana Bay took second while Drivingthedragon N held third.

Paying $27.90 to win, Innocent Kiss won her sixth race from 18 starts, earning $8,836. Driver Adam Merner co-owns the Melissa Rennie trainee with Max Roderick Sehl.
