Massive Payoff From Miss Itunes

The four-year-old Mystery Chase mare Miss Itunes motored off a helmet to land at the finish first and take the $8,100 featured pace at Century Downs on Tuesday (May 25) at odds of 28-1.

Driver Tyler Redwood settled Miss Itunes into fifth while odds-on choice Chase The Ace set the pace to a :27.2 first quarter. She continued uncontested to a :58 half, where Redwood angled Miss Itunes off the cones and flushed cover into the backside from Mrs Suhwiggins. With Mrs Suhwiggins leading the two-wide tier, Chase The Ace faced pressure to three-quarters in 1:26.3 but maintained a narrow lead off the turn.

Straightening for the finish, Chase The Ace promptly gave way as Mrs Suhwiggins slid to a narrow lead. Chocolate Terror charged off the pegs down the center of the track late as Miss Itunes gathered her momentum off her cover, with the David Lamont trainee closing quickest to the finish to stop the clock in 1:56.2 a neck to the good. Mrs Suhwiggins settled for third another length behind.

Returning $58.60 to win, Miss Itunes competes for owners Donna Wyse and David Lamont. She won her ninth race from 27 starts, good for $121,452 in earnings.

The win was the first of three high-priced returns by trainer Dave Lamont. In the race following, Outlaw Endofanera ($11.30) romped from the second tier, with her stablemate No Bettor Parade ($59.50) later overcoming that trailing spot for a victory.
