Picov Holdings Inc. and the Picov Cattle Company have submitted a proposal to the Town of Ajax that calls for the addition of 1,700 more slot machines at Ajax Downs and the introduction of up to 200 gaming tables.
News of the proposal comes courtesy of an article on durhamregion.com, which states that a recent public meeting on the proposal raised concerns over increased traffic that the expansion would bring.
The article explains that the proposal would see the new site cover 358,000 square feet and that a four-storey parking garage would be added. The report also states that in terms of municipal infrastructure, Alexander’s Crossing would be realigned to connect up with Audley Road so a local subdivision would not be overrun with increased traffic.
The durhamregion.com report explains that Ajax Council’s community affairs and planning committee is tentatively scheduled to discuss a report on the proposal on June 22. The proposal will then be addressed by council on June 25, according to the article.
