Won Surreal Deal captured the featured $11,644 Fillies & Mares Open Pace at Vernon Downs on Saturday, May 24.

Won Surreal Deal and driver Steeven Genois took the early lead but Alta Madeira N (Chris Long) took over just before hitting the quarter first in :27.  She maintained her position through a :55.4 half and 1:24.2 three-quarter mark, with Two Star Magic (Leon Bailey) first-over heading around the final turn.

As they reached the stretch, all the action happened.

Two Star Magic took a short lead, while Won Surreal Deal slipped in between horses and claimed the front.  Benecio (Roman Lopez) came four-wide and Red Carpet Ready (Jeff Gregory) came flying five wide but Won Surreal Deal dug in and held on to win in 1:53.2. Red Carpet Ready was a neck back in second with Two Star Magic less than a length back in third.

Won Surreal Deal is a seven-year-old mare by So Surreal, trained by Jeff Sorenson for Parsimonious Racing Stable.  It was her first time in the winner’s circle this year.  She now has 24 career victories, and returned $9.70 to win on this occasion.

Vernon Downs returns to live racing on Monday, May 26 with a post time of 12:15 p.m.
