The current and former track record holders will face off in the Thursday evening feature event at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The Capital oval has an 11-dash card scheduled for a 6 p.m. post time on Thursday and the $3,300 Fillies and Mares Preferred Pace hits the track in race 10.
Ladylike (pictured above) was victorious the last time this class assembled as the former Charlottetown track record holder was steered to victory by David Dowling for trainer and co-owner Jennifer Doyle and co-owner Danny Birt of Earnscliffe, P.E.I. The Shadow Play seven-year-old has visited the winner’s circle 31 times in her career and has post five this week.
Current 1:52.3 track record holder Dreamfair Zenfire has the outside post six in the field for trainer/driver Marc Campbell after going down to defeat as the race favourite to Ladylike in her seasonal debut last week. The Sunfire Blue Chip lass sits at 49 career victories as she searches for a milestone moment.
Ms Moyse (to be driven by Adam Merner) has post two as the 7-2 third choice on the morning line. Ill Tell Me Ma (Ken Murphy) will control the rail while Atlantic Star (Mike McGuigan) has post three and other Campbell stable entry, Plain Jane (Corey MacPherson), leaves from post four.
The "Post Time Picks" like Dreamfair Zenfire on top for her 50th career win: “Dreamfair Zenfire was awesome in 2022 with 12 wins and record of 1:53.2. She’s also on the outside looking in again but check out those snappy closing panels so we’re putting her in the win column tonight.”
New Legacy is the top choice in the $3,100 Open Trot in race nine with post four for driver Merner, trainer Colin Johnson and owners Debbie Element, Don MacNeill and Matt and David Burke. New Legacy was flying late last week but ended up second-best to Sailor Blue (Murphy), who has post two this week in the field of six. Jessiejesorjessica (Gilles Barrieau) is a top contender in the class with rail control.
