Selling The Dream notched her first win of the year after making a three-wide move on the backstretch in Wednesday evening's (May 24) featured event, the $7,500 Fillies & Mares Preferred 3 Pace, at The Raceway at Western Fair District.

Sent postward as the 4-5 favourite in her second start of 2017, Selling The Dream and Hall of Famer driver Dave Wall settled away fourth behind a trio of early leavers. Eat Me Up (J Harris) forged on between horses to take the lead ahead of insider Solid Queen (Travis Henry), but Maxim Seelster (Bob McClure) kept rolling to her outside and cleared by the quarter in :28.2.

Eat Me Up quickly retook the lead and put up the half in :57.4 while Solid Queen was flushed first-up by Pinky Tuscadero (Mike Horner), with Selling The Dream moving third-over in the outer flow.

While Eat Me Up was under mounting pressure near the 1:26 third quarter mark as Solid Queen matched her strides, Wall went wide with Selling The Dream and that four-year-old mare swept by to win in 1:56.1 by one and a half lengths. Maxim Seelster came through to finish second ahead of Solid Queen and Eat Me Up.

Wall's son Dean trains the popular winner, who returned $3.70 at the betting windows. The Badlands Hanover-Daring Escape mare, who is an Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots graduate, has won nine races from 36 career starts while earning over $130,000 for owners Donald and Sheila Murray of Kincardine, Ont.
