Veteran trotter Rainbow Gold rolled to the front and never looked back en route to capturing Tuesday’s $7,500 Preferred 3 at The Raceway at Western Fair District.
Owner/driver Dennis Duford hustled Rainbow Gold to the lead from the rail and together they sliced out splits of :28.3, :58.2 and 1:27.4 before using a :29.4 kicker to win by a neck over Wildwild Men in 1:57.3. Bop Too The Top tagged along to finish third.
Ashley Duford trains the 10-year-old son of Thunder Road-Incredible Gold who won for the 47th time in his career. He’s put together a 4-1-1 record from 15 starts so far this season. He’s banked just over $15,000 this year and close to $250,000 to date.
